A native of Beaufort, South Carolina, Grant has lived in Sioux City since 1987. He graduated from Briar Cliff University in 1990 and was one of three outreach specialists hired for the Gang Outreach Program in 1993. He became the program director in 1996, responsible for after-school and summer programs at the Sanford Center. His 20-plus years of experience and work within the community have significantly helped reduce gang activities in Siouxland.
He is married and has four children. He is active in church, serving as drummer for its worship band. Grant has served on the Siouxland Christian School Board and is a past member of the Sioux City Human Rights Commission and the Sioux City Community Schools Equity Committee. He is a frequent motivational speaker, serving youth since 1990.
